Fading Forest

Detailed Description

 

Our contribution focuses on the 3D modeling aspect of the virtual worlds, as well as assisting with building the physical installation in the ACW 103 and poster design for the marketing/publicity. Additionally, Susan and I will also be contributing to the layout design of the installation. Therefore, the 3D models will depict three different view perspectives. These include the top view and the side perspective views, in which ACW 103 showcases the installation. Susan and I will also assist with the construction of the sphere wire frames that will be the contraption that contains the live plants and act as a representation of the atoms and molecules of the network.

The pictures above showcases the 3D models of the ground and ceiling network structure that would be placed within the ACW 103 room. This is my idea on how the layout of the strucures can be placed within the space.Some of the pictures also showcase our sphere molecules that were created represenation of a molecule. 

 

“DIY Wire Garden Globes”

This is our inspiration for the atoms and molecule representations of the forest. With this structure, we would also be able to have lights shine through as well as hang living plants. This project blog also showcases how each part has to be connected. Therefore,  we should be able to replicate a similar “globe” for our project. Furthermore, we were inspired by its multipoint connection structure. 

 

 

Role Segregation (Individual)

 

Ken Zhu (Creative) - Responsible for the 3D modelling (for the unity world and for the presentations) as well as the poster design (marketing strategy) with Susan. I am also responsible for the 3D modelled floor plans, assisting with the sourcing of materials as well as help with assembling the installation(the sphere wire frames, soldering, connecting the pipes to the joints).

 

Susan Choi (Creative) - Assisting Ken with the 3D modelling for the virtual worlds and for the presentations. Assisting Ken with the blueprint for the installation within ACW 103. Help assemble the sphere wires frames, any soldering and also connecting the pipes to the joints.
