This week we had some successes as well as a few setbacks. The first things we did was dividing the programming aspect of things. Vanessa and Virginia were in charge of the initial coding of the neopixel strips. However, some of the setbacks they faced were getting the specific colours we wanted as the output. As a result, they had to do some more research and testing where they were finally able to come across a code that worked. Kimberly was in charge of the transmitter and receiver as well as the flower neopixel. The transmitter and receiver is a key aspect of our project since it will allow the installation to be wireless and work across further distances. This wireless communication would further allow information to be transferred and exchanged among the Arduinos. She was able to successfully get the transmitter and receiver working with the flower neopixel. Divya was in charge of getting the RFID tag working with a servo and some 5V LEDs for testing purposes. Since we have never used an RFID tag before, it did take a bit more time to understand how it worked. Each RFID tag has a unique code and you can have it programmed where you can give access to one card with a tap and/or no access to the other. She was able to get the RFID tag working with the servo and the tester LEDs. The problems she faced initially was getting the servo to move automatically and then have it return to 0 through a tap of the RFID. That is something she will still need to figure out as well as have the LEDs change with the movements. We are also continuing to brainstorm our ideas.
