This week we used the time to meet on Monday and talk about the redesign. Netra also drew the network desgin idea, as shown below. It was created to really fill up the space and give the participants more to explore. We are still debating on whether we should 3D print or buy pipe joints. With 3D printing we would save money, but not time. However, if we decide to use the pipe joints, we would save alot of time and we would not have to design the pipe joints ourselves. Additionally, we are still planning on keeping the various modes, but since we had trouble with the stepper motors previously and due to budget restrictions, we plan on eliminating the locomotion idea in the physical world. Instead, we plan on creating a virtual world; whatever effects occur in the physical world, also activates effects in the virtual world. We want to show the bigger picture showcasing the effects of reforestation and deforestation. For example, the depletion of the ozone layer. We also managed to show Joel and Michael our idea and they seemed to really like the network idea. Joel also posed the question to us in class about, what is the molecular structure of a tree? Which really had us thinking in a different angle. The main issue was that the budget won't be able to fit the whole concept since it was too large. Thereby, we would have to scale the idea a bit smaller. We plan on meeting this Monday to discuss a molecular structure idea, while fitting within the budget criteria.
