We did quite a number of things this week. We had a meeting on Monday and we used that time to think about the redesign of the tree using the molecular structure of lignin(the tree trunk). We decided to only use a small part of the structure since lignin is a complex compound structure made up of hundreds of molecules. For the molecules we were thinking about using the Chinese Lanterns, which already had a ready made sphere structure or make our own wireframes. The issue is by buying the lanterns, we would not have much choice of sizes. They maybe a lot smaller than we want. Therefore making our own wireframes would save us money and allow us the freedom of creating our desired sizes. We plan on putting the led strips inside the globes as well as some plants, to add to the forest feel. We are still deciding between using pipes or poster tubes. Below is Netra's design of how the lignin structure can look like as an art piece as well as the joint types that we would use. For the virtual world, we plan on using Unity to create molecular structures as well. This would be done in order to keep that consistency of the idea of a tree's molecular structure being broken down or regenerated, when deforestation and reforestation occurs respectively.
